Sharon Steltz

Sharon Steltz, age 80, of Big Stone City, SD, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at St. William’s Care Center in Milbank, SD.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday. Rev. Larry Johnson will officiate the service and interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Big Stone City, SD.

Sharon Rae (Sigler) Steltz was born on November 13, 1942, in Clinton, MN. She was the daughter of Alvin and Fern (Schlimme) Sigler. Sharon grew up in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School. During this time, Sharon worked for her uncle as a baler and waited tables. These jobs allowed Sharon to save money to attend cosmetology school in the Twin Cities. After working for a short time in the Cities, Sharon returned to the Clinton area.

On November 8, 1968, Sharon was united in marriage with Robert Steltz. Together, they were blessed with five children: Todd, Doug, Joel, Julie, and Michael.

Sharon worked in beauty shops at various times in Clinton, Ortonville, and Big Stone City. She also worked in telemarketing and the making of computer parts.

Gardening and flowers brought Sharon much joy. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and crafting. Sundays were often spent at the family farm with extended family. When Sharon had the TV or radio on, she usually had Lawrence Welk or an outdoor show playing. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Sharon adored her family and she always put her children and grandchildren first.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert “Bob” Steltz of Big Stone City, SD; daughter, Julie Steltz of Milbank, SD; sons: Todd (Tara) Steltz of Big Stone City, SD; Doug Steltz of Miller, SD; Joel Steltz of Milbank, SD; and Michael (Melissa) Steltz of Brandon, SD; sisters: Karen Ann Espelien, Arloa Ronglien, Leta Herberg, and Kathy Stattelman; brothers: Wayne Sigler, Randy Sigler, Ricky Sigler, and Terry Sigler; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Maggie; brothers: Wallace “Butch” Sigler and Todd Sigler; and sister, Jill Hoxtell.
