Daryl Bell

Daryl Bell, age 86, of Milbank, SD, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Avantara in Milbank.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home Chapel in Milbank. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service. Pastor Chris Davis will officiate, and inurnment will be at Milbank City Cemetery.

Daryl Edgar Bell was born on December 10, 1936, on a dairy farm in rural Ortonville, MN. He was the son of Dorothy (Underwood) and Robert Glenn Bell. He grew up in Ortonville. At age 17, he entered the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1961. Daryl was united in marriage with Myrna J. Bohn, on September 5, 1959, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank, SD. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage and three sons: Robert, Todd, and Glen.

Daryl and Myrna made their first home in Minneapolis, MN. They later moved to Ortonville, MN; Hastings, NE; and lastly to a farm south of Milbank. Daryl was a truck driver at heart. He loved to fish, but mostly he loved to garden. He also made homemade rugs to sell at the farmer’s market.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Myrna; sons: Robert Bell of Milbank, SD, and Todd (Jenny) Bell of LaBolt, SD; grandsons: Joshua (Michael) Bell, and Jacob (Kayla) Bell; great-grandsons: Liam and Kalim Bell; sister-in-law, Linda (Rodger) Brandt; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Glen Alan; parents, Robert and Dorothy (Underwood) Bell; sister, Betty (Dick) Morrill; brother-in-law, Alan Bohn; and parents-in-law, Harvey and Helen Bohn.
