Jaclyn Wiik and Camila Monroy each turned in a card of 100, and Shaylee Schuchard shot a 102 at the Region 1A Golf Tournament on May 25 in Aberdeen.  According to Mark Keeton, coach of the Lady Bulldogs, things have changed and none of the Milbank golfers advanced to State this year. “With several factors in play, scores were remarkably low compared to previous years. The cut to make the state tournament this year was a 90. I’ve been a coach since 2011, and the lowest previous qualifying score that I can remember was a 105,” Keeton commented. Mia VanLith and Jacynda Street, also members of the Milbank team, carded a 117 and a 143, respectively.

Carly Guthmiller of Groton was the medalist. She tallied a 73. The  top individual golfers also included (2) Delilah Maxwell of Groton – 76 (3) Abby Greenhof of Dell Rapids – 78 (4) Caitlyn Cradduck of Sioux  Valley – 78 and (5) Claire Crawford of Roncalli – 81.

As a team, Roncalli won the tournament with 334 points. The Cavaliers edged out Madison by one point. Groton was third at 357.
The girls State A tournament will be played at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City on June 5-6.
