The Firechiefs were back in action on Wednesday, June 7. Milbank hosted the Castlewood Monarchs in the Chiefs’ first home game of the season. Taylor Boerger earned the win on the mound by pitching a two-hit shutout in seven innings. He recorded 13 strikeouts.Milbank got their offense rolling in the bottom of the first. Kaden Krause drew a one-out walk and Brady Krause followed with a double.  B. Krause scored K. Krause to put the Chiefs on the board at 1-0. Kellen Hoeke drove a double to center to send B. Krause home and give Milbank an early 2-0 lead. 

In the bottom of the third, Milbank got three doubles in a row courtesy of T. Boerger, B. Krause, and K. Krause to stretch their lead to 4-0. They kept things rolling in the bottom of the fourth when T. Boerger reached on a walk, and K.Krause singled to left to move T. Boerger to third. Dom Boerger blasted a double to centerfield to score both T. Boerger and K. Krause. After four, the score sat at 6-0 in favor of Milbank.The locals got to work and sewed up the game early. In the bottom of the seventh. Hoeke reached first on a dropped third strike. Mitch Quade and Mikey Karges drew back-to-back walks, and Hoeke scored on a wild pitch to push the score to 7-0. Cam May got hit by a pitch to load the bases. Tyler Krause’s infield single scored Quade and Karges, and the Firechiefs led 9-0. B. Krause drew a bases-loaded walk to end the game at 10-0 as the Firechiefs mercy ruled the Monarchs.

K. Krause led the offense for Milbank with three hits and one RBI. B. Krause added two hits and three RBIs.Watch the Firechiefs again in EDL play at Lake Norden on Sunday, June 18.  First pitch is at 5 p.m.
