American Legion Post 9 took on Sisseton in a doubleheader at Pribyl Park in Milbank on Thursday, June 8. Milbank rallied in the sixth inning of the first game to take a late lead and claim the win 5-2. The bats stayed hot in game two when Milbank routed Sisseton 16-3. Post 9’s season record now sits at 4-2.In game one, Post 9 didn’t get their offense going until the bottom of the sixth. Approaching the final frame, the locals trailed 2-0. Tanner Hallquist and Dillen Scheely led off the inning with back-to-back walks. Hallquist advanced home when the Sisseton catcher allowed passed balls. 

Mason Meister and Josh Pederson drew back-to-back walks to load the bases for Joe Schulte. Schulte cleared the bags with a triple to right field. The locals took the lead 4-2. Justus Osborn then singled to left to score Schulte and give Milbank the game winning run at 5-2.

Osborn earned the win on the mound. He pitched two innings and struck out four batters. Schulte led the way for the offense with two hits and three RBIs. Sheely added two hits to his line.In game two, Milbank routed Sisseton 16-3 by drawing 11 walks. Schulte and Daniel Shelstad each had two hits. Owen Tesch doubled.  Jayce Jonason tripled. Josh Pederson tallied nine strikeouts through five innings of work. He allowed only two earned runs.
