Earlier this season, the Post 9 baseball team was shut out by rival Lake Norden. So they were looking for redemption when Lake Norden came to town to play a doubleheader. They settled for a split. Milbank won the first game 4-3 and lost the second game to the visitors 12-0.

In game one, Reese Rabe got the offense started for Post 9. He drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the second. Mason Meister followed with a walk to put runners on first and second for the top of the order. Josh Pederson also drew a walk.  Rabe scored when Joe Schulte reached on a fielder’s choice. Justus Osborn drew a walk and Merik Junker was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give Milbank a 2-1 lead at the end of two innings.

Lake Norden scored two runs in the top of the third, but the locals knotted it back up in the bottom of the third. Sammy Femling led off by drawing a walk. Jayce Jonason, Pederson, and Schulte all drew walks to bring home Femling and tie the game at 3-3.

Milbank captured the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Schulte lined a one-out single to right to place a runner on base. He then stole second and advanced to third after an error by Lake Norden’s second baseman. Junker’s single to right field secured Milbank’s lead and the victory.

Junker earned the win on the mound in relief.  He allowed no runs and struck out three. He also added a hit along with Dillen Scheely, Pederson and Schulte. In game two, Milbank fell 12-0. Scheely recorded Post 9’s only hit of the game.
