Darcie’s Home Care was welcomed into the Milbank business community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, July 11. Milbank Chamber members, friends, and family attended the event and senior residents joined the group for cupcakes, kabobs, and conversation.
Darcie and Matt O’Farrell of Marvin purchased Valley View Home Care from Angela Boerger and Katelyn Thibeault in April 2022. The property was also previously known as the Snell House when it opened and was owned, and operated by Sharon and Virgil Snell and their family from the 1990s until August 2017.
The O’Farrells renamed the business and updated the interior. “Darcie wanted everything to be just right,” Sharon Ehlebracht, Darcie’s mother, said. The home offers seven single-occupancy rooms and two double-occupancy rooms.
Darcie’s Home Care also offers adult day care to area families that need a safe and engaging place for their loved one while they run errands or attend work. The respite program provides short-term relief to caregivers and alternate overnight care.
All residents receive 24/7 nursing support. The nursing support is built into the business as Darcie brings with her 25 years of experience as an RN and over 30 years in the healthcare industry. She worked a case manager at Avera in Milbank, was employed by a senior care center in Sioux Falls, and held the position of the director of nursing at the Wilmot Care Center.
Darcie said, “Our home is ideal for those who can live independently, but need extra help with things such as housekeeping, hygiene, health care, and home-cooked meals. Meals in particular are important to her. Among the home’s delicious meals and treats are steak and shrimp perfectly grilled by Matt. “Throughout my years in health care, I always dreamed of having my own care center,” Darcie said, “and thought if I ever do, I will make sure the meals are really good.”
