Dan Liebe, age 53, of Billings, MT, formerly of Milbank, SD, passed away on August 10, 2023, as a result of a vehicular accident.

A memorial service for Dan will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Harvest Church – 1235 W. Wicks Lane, Billings, MT.

Services in Milbank will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Church. Rev. Larry Liebe will officiate. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

Daniel Wayne Liebe was born on October 1, 1969, in Ortonville, MN. He was the son of Duane and Marjorie (Lunderville) Liebe. Dan grew up in Milbank with his siblings, Daryl and Dawn. He graduated from Milbank High School with the Class of 1988. Following high school, Dan proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He graduated from basic training and AIT as a Transportation Specialist in the Fall of 1988.

Dan attended Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND, in 1989 for the spring semester before he was deployed. He served during Desert Storm with the 740th Transportation Company. He was awarded the Army Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, National Defense Service Medal, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Sharpshooter Badge, Overseas Service Medal, and Southwest Service Medal with 2nd Bronze Service Star. He was honorably discharged in 1998. 

Dan continued his education at Trinity Bible College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pastoral Studies in 1994. He was ordained as a pastor in the Assemblies of God Church in 1999.

Dan was united in marriage with Robin Unterseher on September 24, 1994, in Jamestown, ND. They were blessed with two sons: Nathaniel and Josiah.

Dan’s faith led him to his career as a youth pastor with the Assemblies of God. He served churches in the capacity of youth/associate pastoral positions in Merrill, WI; Watertown, SD; Wahpeton, ND; Bozeman, MT; then was elected as the district youth director for the state of Montana in 2008 with the Montana Ministry Network and moved to Billings, MT. In 2019, Dan joined Thrivent Financial as an advisor.

Dan faithfully attended Faith Chapel in Billings. He was a member of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, was a PADI Certified Divemaster Travel Specialist, and was active with CAMO (Courts Assisting Military Offenders). He took at-risk veterans diving and was part of the liaison program between the court system and at-risk veterans.

Dan was a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and a musician. His heart’s passion was for other people and the Lord. Throughout his ministry career, he raised thousands of dollars for missions and thoroughly loved traveling the world on mission trips. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Robin of Billings, MT; his sons:  Nathaniel Liebe of Billings, MT; and Josiah Liebe of Talkeetna, AK; his mother, Marge Liebe of Milbank, SD; siblings: Daryl (Pam) Liebe of Milbank, SD; and Dawn (Paul) VanderWal of Milbank, SD; nieces and nephews: Michaela (Hayden) Palmer of Bruce, SD; Riley VanderWal of Milbank, SD; Katie (Nate) Bien of Veblen, SD; Micah, Ian, and Evy Liebe all of Milbank, SD; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bob and Sharon Unterseher of Billings, MT;  brother-in-law, Steven Unterseher of Watford City, ND; nieces: Zoé Unterseher, Gracie (Unterseher) Frymire, Lizzie (Unterseher) Warrick and Jaden Unterseher of Great Falls, MT; and great-nephew and great-niece: Brooks and Lucy Palmer of Bruce, SD.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Duane Liebe.
