Lady Bulldogs Tennis Season in Full Swing

The Lady Bulldogs tennis team has been battling the heat along with some tough opponents in early season action. Milbank traveled to Harrisburg on Saturday, August 12, to take on Lennox and Harrisburg.

Milbank 2  vs.  Lennox 7

In their match against Lennox, senior Hope Karels, at No. 1, defeated junior Madison Buehner 10-6. Sophomore Ashlynn Lamp was defeated by junior Grace Dressen 10-5 in the No. 2 spot. Freshman Jenna Korstjens at No. 3 was defeated by freshman Brooklyn Buehner 10-3.  Seventh grader Payton Lamp at No. 4 was defeated 5-3 by sophomore Macy Wallenstein. Freshman and No. 5, Caitlyn Frerichs, was defeated by sophomore Miriam Welch 10-7. Jericho Jones, a junior playing at No. 6, was defeated 10-6 by seventh-grader Maren Juffer.

In doubles play, Karels and A. Lamp defeated M. Buehner and B. Buehner 10-6. Korstjens and Frerichs were defeated by Dressen and Wallenstein 10-9 (7-3) P. Lamp and Swanson were defeated 10-7 by Juffer and Welch.

Milbank 0  vs. Harrisburg  9

The Lady Bulldogs lost  9-0 to the Lady Tigers of Harrisburg. Several veterans from the Lady Tigers team that took 10th place in the State AA tournament in 2022 are back in their lineup this year.

In singles, at No. 1 for Milbank, Hope Karels (SR) was defeated by sophomore  McKenzie Vickery 10-7. Ashlynn Lamp (SO) at No. 2 went down at 10-3 to senior Erika Starr. Jenna Korstjens (FR) was defeated by junior Addison Bohy 10-3. Charlotte Swanson (7) lost to sophomore Madelyn VonWald 10-0.  Caitlyn Frerichs (FR) was defeated by senior Gabriella Wabwire 10-0.  Jericho Jones (JR) took the loss at 10-0 to sophomore Hannah Frye.

In doubles, Karels and A. Lamp were defeated by Vickery ad Starr 10-5. Korstjens and Frerichs were defeated by Bohy and VonWald 10-2. Swanson and P. Lamp were defeated by Wabwire and Frye 10-2.

The Lady Bulldogs travel to the Madison Tennis Invitational this Friday and Saturday, August 18-19. The competition includes Aberdeen Roncalli, Huron, Lennox, Rapid City Christian, St.Thomas More, Sioux Falls Christian, Spearfish, and Vermillion.
