Anne Berkner

Anne Berkner, age 76, of rural Stockholm, SD, passed away on August 30, 2023.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. and visitation will continue on Wednesday, one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Anne Ruth (Schlosser) Berkner was born on January 22, 1947, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Stanley and Helen (Wodsedalek) Schlosser. Anne grew up in the Milbank area and graduated from Milbank High School and attended cosmetology school in Aberdeen, SD.

Anne was united in marriage with Marlin Berkner on May 27, 1967, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. They were blessed with four children: Steve, Chris, Brad, and Emily.

Anne was a devoted farmwife and mother. She worked as a beautician in Watertown and Milbank for many years and for local funeral homes. Anne was a wonderful cook and was always baking something delicious! Her yard and flower gardens were a passion and gave her enjoyment. She adored her grandchildren and loved to attend their activities.

Anne was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Marlin of Stockholm, SD; her children: Steve (Colleen) Berkner of Stockholm, SD; Chris (Nicolle) Berkner of Twin Brooks, SD; Brad (Jody) Berkner of Coon Rapids, MN; and Emily (Kurt) Adolph of Stockholm, SD; eight grandchildren: Brandon Adolph, Jordan Adolph, Josie Adolph, Zachary Berkner, Ashley Berkner, Resa Schermer, Cory Lindsholm, Jordan Pollock, Cody Berkner, and Brennen Schafer; four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry.
