LeRoy Stricherz

LeRoy Stricherz, age 83 of Revillo,SD,  passed away on September 3, 2023, in Watertown, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in Revillo. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Burial, with military honors, will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Revillo.

LeRoy was born on July 31, 1940, to Bernard and Irene (Raml) Stricherz in Watertown, SD. He attended school in Waverly, SD. After high school, LeRoy served in the United States Navy, enlisting on July 8, 1958, in Watertown. He transferred into the Naval Reserves on June 1, 1961. He was honorably discharged on March 27, 1963. After the service he went to work at John Deere in Watertown, SD. On June 22, 1964, LeRoy was united in marriage to Florence Brandenburger in Revillo.  In 1970 they moved to the farm near Revillo. Other jobs for LeRoy while farming included selling seed corn for Funks Seed Corn, working at Saputo Cheese, and Rising Star Hydraulics. In 2005 they moved into the city of Revillo, and continued to help with the farm.

LeRoy and Florence went on few special trips with a group of friends. They spent four winters in Marble Falls and Burnet, Texas. LeRoy enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He loved to pick on his grandkids whenever he had the chance. In his spare time, he would be in his lazy boy watching Gunsmoke or a western show of some kind.

LeRoy loved to hunt/fish and as he got older-watching birds/wildlife. In 2011 LeRoy went bear hunting in Gibbing, MN, where he shot a black bear. For three years, LeRoy and his brothers went on an annual fishing trip to Lake of the Woods in northern MN. LeRoy and Florence also enjoyed fishing near Mobridge, SD, with their daughter, Kim and family.

 LeRoy Stricherz is survived by his wife, Florence Stricherz of Revillo, SD; three children: Connie (Roger) Foote of Watertown, SD; Kim (Jason) Voegele of Mobridge, SD; and Darin (Pam) Stricherz of Revillo, SD; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; siblings: Lanna (Elwood) Phelps of Redwood Falls, MN; Steve Stricherz of Watertown, SD; Diane Flemming of Rapid City, SD; Pat (Lori) Stricherz of LaBolt, SD; Jeff (Rachelle) Stricherz of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers-in-law: LeRoy (Linda) Brandenburger of South Shore, SD; Allen (Brenda) Brandenburger of Revillo, SD; sister-in-law: Margaret Brandenburger of Watertown, SD, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Benjamin and Irene; brothers: Stan and Larry; sisters-in-law, Barb Stricherz, Laurie Stricherz, Donna Brandenburger, and Dorothy Bishop; brothers-in-law: Ron Flemming and Edward Brandenburger.
