Two musicians from Milbank High School have been selected for South Dakota’s 2023 All-State Orchestra. The SDHSAA  made the announcement on Monday, October 16, after auditions were held on the Dakota Wesleyan University Campus in Mitchell on October 12. 

MHS seniors and Violin 1 players, Rachel Schulte (chair 12) and Joe Schulte (chair 19), were each selected for the orchestra for the fourth year in a row. 

The 2023 South Dakota All-State Orchestra and Choir concert  begins at 7 p.m. (MT) on Saturday, October 28, in the Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City. 

Junior Gemma Street (trumpet) and freshman Jack TerDenge (French horn) also auditioned. The MHS students are instructed by Elizabeth Schulte, a private strings instructor in Milbank, and Susan Karels, the band instructor for grades six through 12 in Milbank. Karels is assisted by Mrs. Deb Rausch.
