Students in second through fifth grade attended Science Saturday on October 28 at the Milbank Hospital. The students learned about the heart by viewing an actual cow heart and making slime to simulate blood to learn about its components. They also learned how to stop bleeding and the effects of sugary foods on the body.

Members of HOSA – the future health professionals organization at MHS– hosted the event. The older students led the younger ones in yoga to demonstrate the benefits of strength and flexibility in reducing injury and increasing mindfulness. The students also received a snack and goodies to take home.

“It was a very fun-filled, successful day, and we look forward to hosting another Science Saturday event in the spring,” said Johanna Fischer, who serves as the RN in the Milbank School District
