The Lady Bulldogs hosted Lennox at the Milbank Armory on December 9. The Lady Orioles, currently ranked the No. 6 team in South Dakota Class A, gave Milbank trouble in the second quarter or things might have gone down to the wire.

Milbank stayed close during the opening minutes to end the first quarter ahead of Lennox at 10-9. In the second, Milbank entered a scoring drought and Lennox pulled ahead by 15 to end the half 25-10. The Lady Bulldogs’ dry spell unfortunately created a ball and chain that Milbank was forced to drag in the second half. In the third quarter, Milbank fell further behind by 21 points. They never gave up, though, and battled their way back into the game. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bulldogs outscored Lennox 16-13, but the buzzer sounded too soon. Milbank took the loss, but by just 13 at 52-39.

Tyra Berry and Claire Snaza each led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points. Berry connected on two of her three-point shots, a field goal, and four free throws. Snaza dropped in five field goals and made two of her attempts from the line. Siera Wenzl hit two shots from long range, a field goal, and a free throw to score nine points. Isabella Anderson and Josie Riveland each hit the target from beyond the arc to add three points apiece. Anderson was credited with two assists.

Anderson also led Milbank in rebounds with four. Snaza, Riveland, and Rylee Scoular each grabbed two. Wenzl, Ella Sandvig, and Belle Paul snagged one apiece.

Leading scorers for Lennox were Carli Kuyper with 14, Dani Highum with 12, and Andie Peters with nine. Highum was also the top rebounder for the Lady Orioles with seven. Kuyper pulled down six.

Milbank downed 32.5 percent of their field goals. Lennox made 33.3 percent. Milbank hit 35 percent from three. Lennox went 17 percent. Milbank secured seven of their 12 attempts from the free throw line for 58 percent. Lennox made 18 of their 25 attempts for 72 percent.
