Lynette Pew, age 64, of Corona, SD, passed away on January 7, 2024, in Sioux Falls, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.

Casket bearers will be: Gary Schuelke, Jim Schuelke, Steve Schuelke, Kevin Schuelke, Duane Schuelke, and Jason Kaan. Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren.

Lynette Marie Schuelke Pew was born on September 5, 1959, in Ortonville, MN. She was the daughter of John “Jack” Schuelke and Wanda Adelman Schuelke. She was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rosen, MN. Lynette grew up with her five brothers on a farm east of Milbank, SD. She attended school in Milbank and graduated from Milbank High School with the Class of 1977. Lynette was united in marriage with Lynn Pew on October 23, 1982, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. They were blessed with five children: Elizabeth, Angela, Bryan, Megan, and Scott.

Lynette worked at various places including babysitting neighborhood children, Flanery’s, United Hardware, and had been working for the past 14 years as a customer care specialist for Montage. Her most important job was caring for her family. She cherished her children and devoted a significant portion of her life to being a stay-at-home mom. Her world brightened considerably with the arrival of her grandchildren, as she cherished and loved each one dearly.  Lynette excelled as an artist and especially enjoyed oil painting in which she won various awards. She delighted in both cooking and baking with a passion for creating delectable delights. Lynette, with her green thumb, consistently cultivated a vast garden adorned with an array of flowers, vegetables, and plants. Her adept skills as a seamstress shown through as she lovingly fashioned some of her daughters and granddaughters dresses.  

Lynette was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wilmot and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Her faith was evident as she frequently found solace in prayer often praying the rosary. She studied the Bible and was a Sunday School teacher. She painted the church windows annually at St. Mary’s and St. Lawrence for the Christmas season.  

Lynette Pew is survived by her husband, Lynn Pew of Corona, SD; five children: Elizabeth (Jason) Kaan of Aberdeen, SD; Angela Pew (Travis Rethke) of Watertown, SD; Bryan (Tonya) Pew of Rapid City, SD; Megan Pew (Jerad Summers) of Aberdeen, SD; and Scott Pew of Corona, SD; ten grandchildren: Abbilyn, Brynley and Brody Kaan, Kamryn and Stella Rethke, Weston, Grace, Storm, Gabriel and Shysie Pew; five brothers: Duane (Patti) Schuelke of Big Stone City, SD; Steve Schuelke of Big Stone City, SD; Kevin (Tammy) Schuelke of Milbank, SD; Jim (Deb) Schuelke of Milbank, SD; and Gary (Cathy) Schuelke of Milbank, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents:  John “Jack” and Wanda Schuelke; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Eugene and Maxine Pew; niece, Ashley Johnson; nephew, Shane Pew, and brother-in-law, Jeff Pew.
