The Lady Bulldogs gymnastics team squared off with Britton-Hecla and their host at a triangular meet in Sisseton on Saturday, January 6. Britton-Hecla won the meet with 131.95 points. Milbank Area scored 120.45 points to edge out Sisseton for second place. Sisseton finished with 117.95 points.

Macyn Dunnihoo led Milbank in the first event with an 8.65 score for her floor routine. She placed third. Raina Untalan received a 7.8 to place ninth. Hannah Brown scored a 7.45 to tie for 10th place. Jada Leigh Wellnitz notched a 6.75 to place 13th, and Aria Prasnicki placed16th with her score of 6.55.

On the vault, Hannah performed a full handspring to earn a score of 8.8 and capture third place. Macyn performed her half-half for the first time this season and it paid off. She scored a personal best of 8.3 and tied for eighth place. Raina, Jada Leigh, and Aria all debuted a half-on. Raina earned a score of 7.85 to place14th, Jada Leigh received a 7.8 to place 15th. She also collected a personal best. Aria also received a personal best score of 7.5 to place 17th.

Hannah led Milbank on the bars. She tied for fourth place with a 7.6.  Macyn mixed things up with her direction change of a switch kip to impress the judges and take sixth place. She also took home a personal-best score of 7.5. Raina secured 12th place. She scored 5.55. Aria scored 5.45 to place 13th, and Jada Leigh finished in 15th place at 5.25.

Kelly Wollschlager, head coach for MHS, commented, “The girls ended the night on the balance beam with two out of five no-fall beam routines to take the top three places. Raina performed a solid no-fall routine earning her a personal best score of 8.15 to take first place. Macyn also performed a no-fall routine scoring an 8.1 to place second. Hannah scored a 7.95 to place third. Jada Leigh scored 6.75 to place 12th. Aria tied for 13th at 6.3.

In the All Around competition, Macyn took fourth at 32.55 — another personal best for her.  Hannah came in at sixth place at 31.8. Raina piled up 29.35 points for a personal best and ninth place. Jada Leigh also accrued a personal best of 26.55 to take 11th place. Aria followed suit with a personal best score of 25.8. She earned13th-place honors.

What’s next? The Lady Bulldogs go on the road to Madison on January 13.
