Macyn Dunnihoo Prequalifies for State at Hendricks Gymnastics Meet

Milbank Area took third place at a gymnastics meet against Estelline-Hendricks and Harrisburg in Hendricks, Minnesota, on Friday January 19. Harrisburg scored 149.65 to earn first place. Estelline-Hendricks secured second place with 142.3 points. Milbank scored 116.1 points for third place. Lady Bulldog Macyn Dunihoo recorded her third state-qualifying floor score of 8.8 or higher. Her 9.0 score at Hendicks prequalified her for the Floor event at State. South Dakota’s all-classes 2024 State Gymnastics Meet will be held February 9-10 in Pierre.

Kelly Wollschlager, head coach for Milbank Area, reported individual results for the Lady Bulldogs at Hendricks:
Vault- Macyn Dunnihoo scored 8.3, Madilyn Sletten performed her ½ and ½ for the first time this season. She received a score of 8.1. Jada Leigh Wellnitz scored 7.75, and Raina Untalan 7.65.

Bars- Macyn scored 7.0. Madilyn completed her long hang kip for the first time this season to received a score of 5.65. Raina scored 5.45, Aria scored 5.15, and Jada Leigh 5.1.

Beam- Jada Leigh completed our only no-fall beam routine of the meet and scored 7.2. Macyn earned 7.15; Raina, 7.0; Madilyn, 5.85; and Aria 5.45.

Floor- Macyn scored 9.0 and also prequalified for the floor exercise at State. Madilyn scored a personal best 8.35. Raina received 8.3. Jada Leigh also performed a personal best at 8.2. Aria charted 6.0.

All-Around – Macyn earned 31.45; Raina, 28.4; Jada Leigh, 28.25; and Madilyn, 27.95

What’s next? Milbank is back in action tonight, January 23 in Morris, Minnesota. On Saturday, January 27, they go on the road again to Deuel. The match begins at noon.
