Bulldogs Win Two Out of Three Against Dell Rapids

Yohana Ajwanga and Garrett Mertens set the pace for the Bulldogs with 12 points and four rebounds apiece in a home game against Dell Rapids on Monday, January 22. Joe Schulte and Jaxson Wildung each scored seven points. Schulte took control of eight rebounds and Wildung got seven. Mertens and Wildung each pulled off three steals. Graham Lightfield added six points and two steals. Braylen Bowsher dropped in a free throw. Emmett Hanson had two rebounds and a steal.

The Bulldogs hit 17 of 54 shots from the floor for 31.5 percent, including five of 25 from long range. They were on target for six of 11 free throws to finish at 54.5 percent.

Jack Henry led the Quarriers with 20 points and three rebounds. Rhett Kloth scored 16 points, pulled down nine rebounds, and made six blocks. Tad Tjaden made 10 points. Overall, Dell Rapids hit 55 percent of their shots from the floor, including 23 percent of their 3-pointers. They made seven of 15 from the line for 47 percent.

Emmett Hanson notched a double-double for the JV Bulldogs in their victory over Dell Rapids on Monday, January 22, at the Milbank Armory. He scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Ryan Keeton also put up 14 points. He added three rebounds. Braylen Bowsher made nine points – three 3-pointers– and two rebounds. Mason Meister contributed seven points and six rebounds. Josh Pederson and Sam Rick made five points each and a rebound apiece. Bryan Meyer made four points and two rebounds. Este Abrego-Gonzalez scored three points and hauled down seven rebounds. He also made three steals. Charlie Peery had three points and three rebounds.

Milbank hit 44 percent of their shots from the floor, including 50 percent from beyond the arc. They landed five of eight from the line for 62.5 percent.

Drake Eastman scored nine points for the Quarriers. Lincoln Anderson and Jack Kloth each made six. Kloth and Breden Gruis led Dell Rapids with four rebounds apiece.

Jaxson Wiese racked up a game-high 18 points in the C team’s 47-34 win over the Quarriers on Monday, January 22 at home. Harley Zemlicka piled on 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Leyton Osowski added nine points and eight rebounds. Jeter Scoular made four points and two rebounds. Garrett Weber had three points and five rebounds. Ethan Owen had five rebounds and a steal. Liam Heller made one field goal and a rebound. Mack Koplin and Liam Street each pulled down a rebound.

The Bulldogs hit 44 percent of their shots and Dell Rapids made 33 percent. Milbank collected on 47 percent of their free throws and Dell Rapids made 30 percent.

What’s next? Milbank travels to Deuel tonight, Thursday, January 25, to take on the Cardinals. The varsity team sits at 7-4 for the season so far and Deuel is at 7-5. The Cardinals are coming off a 65-55 win over Tiospa Zina last Thursday, January 18.
