The Milbank Area gymnastics team finished the Deuel Invitational with a season-high team score of 127.7 points. Milbank also brought home fifth place from the meet held on Saturday, January 27 in Clear Lake.

Kelly Wollschlager, head coach of the Lady Bulldogs, congratulated Hannah Brown and Macyn Dunnihoo. Both have prequalified for the state gymnastics meet to be held in Pierre on February 9-10. “Hannah is prequalified on Vault and the Floor. Macyn is prequalified on the Floor”, Wollschlager noted.

At Deuel, Hannah performed a personal best and received her third state-prequalifying score of 9.05 on the Vault. She also tied for fourth place at the meet. Macyn scored a personal best of 8.75 while debuting a new vault routine that included a ¼-1 ¼. She received 12th place. Mady Sletten and Jada Leigh Wellnitz also each earned a personal best score, Mady at 8.65 to tie for 14th. Jada Leigh at 7.95 to tie for 34th. Raina Untalan tied for 36th at 7.85.

On the Bars, Macyn performed a personal best and performed a clean routine to score 7.6 to place 19th. Hannah scored 7.1 to place 26th; Mady, 6.9 to place 27th; and Raina, 5.95 to place 33rd. Aria Prasnicki performed a personal-best routine to earn a score of 5.85 to place 34th.

Hannah scored 8.5 on the beam to collect 12th place. Macyn tied for 20th at 7.85. Raina tied for 25th at 7.4. Jada Leigh tied for 30th at 7.1. Mady placed 32nd at 6.9.

On the Floor, Macyn tied for fourth place and performed a personal-best routine to earn a 9.4, Hannah tied for 8th with her score of 9.0, Raina scored 8.3 – a personal best and good for 27th place. Mady tied for 28th at 8.25. Aria collected another personal best score of 7.75 to tie for 34th place.

All four MHS gymnasts who competed in the All-Around competition finished with personal best scores. Hannah took eighth place at 33.65. Macyn came in ninth at 33.6. Mady earned 30.7 points, and Raina received 29.5.
