Junior Hannah Brown won the 10th-place medal in the vault competition at the 2024 South Dakota High School Athletic Association Gymnastics Competition. The meet was held at T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre on February 9-10. Lady Bulldogs Macyn Dunnihoo and Mady Sletten, both freshmen, also qualified, competed, and placed in the state meet.

It was the second year Hannah qualified for all the events –vault, bars, beam, floor, and all-around. She earned her medal on the vault with a score of 8.966. Hannah also presented a no-fall routine on the beam to receive a score of 8.85 and place 12th. She tied for 13th with a 8.966 on floor, tied for 13th with a 34.182 in the all-around, and tied for 31st with a score of 7.4 on bars,

Hannah’s tie in the floor competition was Macyn, her fellow Lady Bulldog. Macyn also earned an 8.966 to claim part of 13th place. It was Macyn’s second appearance at State, and she also scored an 8.466 on vault to take 34th place.

Mady experienced a state meet for the first time. She competed in the floor competition and took 37th place with her score of 8.183.

Kelly Wollschlager, head coach for MHS, said, “These girls have put in many hours in the gym and have come a long way battling injuries and sickness to make it this far. Competing in the state meet as an individual is a huge accomplishment, and I am proud they were able to experience it so young in their careers.”
