The Lady Bulldogs went on the road to Tri-Valley on Saturday, February 10. The Lady Mustangs took the win, but Milbank experienced an exciting night. Tyra Berry put up 15 points –all from beyond the arc. She added two assists and six rebounds. Isabella Anderson made 13 points, including one very special point – her 1000th career point.

It was a Kodak moment and the players and fans joined the jubilation. (See story on Isabella’s 1000 Point)

Josie Riveland and Claire Snaza also reached double figures. They put up 11 points apiece. Riveland added an assist and six rebounds. Snaza hauled down three rebounds. Averie Schuneman knocked in a 3-pointer. She added an assist and a rebound. Rylee Scoular dropped in a free throw and grabbed a rebound. Siera Wenzl also ruled one rebound.

Milbank shot better than Tri-Valley. The Lady Dogs hit 50 percent of their shots. Tri-Valley hit 47 percent. Milbank just needed more. More shots and more time. They went 19 of 38 from the floor. Tri-Valley was 22 of 47. Ditto from long range. Milbank downed 11 of 22 of their 3-point shots for 52 percent and Tri-Valley hit eight of 27 for just under 30 percent. The Lady Mustangs claimed 65 percent from the line and the Lady Bulldogs finished at nearly 63 percent. But the scoreboard only records the ones that go in the basket, and Tri-Valley won that contest. They came out on top at 65-54.

Almost half of the Lady Mustangs’ points came from Lauren Grinde. She racked up 25. Her next closest teammate, Elizabeth Davey, scored 14 points. Mattie Huwe had eight and Hailey Sorenson made seven. Madelyn Wenzel led the Lady Mustangs in rebounding. She pulled down eight.

Milbank–9—9—15—21—54
Tri-Valley–23—22—10—10—65

What’s next? The Lady Bulldogs go on the road to face Madison on Tuesday, February 13.
