Every player stepped up to make the Lady Bulldogs’ victory over Webster paws-ible on Thursday, February 15, at the Milbank Armory. Webster led by three points in the early minutes of the game, but after that, it was all Milbank. Isabella Anderson scored 14 points; Claire Snaza, 12; Tyra Berry eight; Ella Sandvig, six; Belle Pauli and Rylee Scoular, five; Anna Neugebauer, four; and Siera Wenzl and Josie Riveland, three. Neugebauer got four rebounds. Berry and Snaza, three; Anderson and Scoular, two; and Riveland and Pauli, one.

Payton Snell led Webster with 11 points. Bailie Ninke and Erin Sannes each scored six. Snell and Harley Johnson pulled down three rebounds apiece.

Both teams finished with approximately a 42 percent shooting average from the floor. Milbank outshot Webster from beyond the arc at 43 to 25 percent. Webster cashed in on 50 percent from the line. Milbank hit pay dirt on 11 of 14 for nearly 80 percent.

It was the last game on Milbank’s regular schedule and it was their second win in a row. The two victories give the Lady Dogs a double boost of confidence as they start Region 1A competition on Tuesday, February 20. Milbank plays Waubay-Summit at 7:30 p.m. in Sisseton.

The 2024 State Class A Tournament is set for March 7-9 at the Dacotah Bank Center in Brookings. Class AA will be played in Sioux Falls this year, and Class B is scheduled in Rapid City. According to the most recent media poll on February 12, Flandreau, Red Cloud, Sioux Falls Christian, Sisseton, and Tea Area are the Class A teams to beat.
