Florence Loeschke

Florence Loeschke, 80, of Ortonville, MN, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery. 

Florence Lillian (Ell) Loeschke was born on May 28, 1943, in Vernon Township of Grant County, SD, to Erwin and Esther (Mueller) Ell. She was baptized on June 6, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church and confirmed on April 14, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Florence attended school and graduated from high school in 1961. Her humble beginnings instilled in her a strong work ethic, leading her to assist on the family farm during her youth and while her father was ill. 

On February 3, 1963, Florence was united in marriage with Melvin Loeschke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Together, they were blessed with three children: Gene, Vickie, and Shoan. 

Throughout her life, Florence dedicated herself to various occupations, from working in canning and cheese factories to selling Stanly Home Products. Her commitment to her family and community was exemplary, as she poured her heart into church activities, including Trinity – Town Walter Lutheran Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. She also passionately supported It Only Takes A Spark Cancer Walk and the Walk of Hope. 

In her free time, Florence found joy in nature, cultivating beautiful flower gardens, sewing, reading, and enjoying moments by the lake. Her warm smile and caring nature touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the honor of knowing her. 

Florence is survived by her husband of 61 years, Melvin; children: Gene (Robin) Loeschke, Vickie (Doug) Gulley, and Shoan (Carrie) Loeschke; 10 grandchildren; 13great-grandchildren (and one on the way); sister, Janice (Ray) Heidtke; brother, Paul (Dorothy) Ell; along with many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Esther Ell.
