Patrick Henry Schaffner was born on March 18, 1949, in Aberdeen, SD, to Michael and Della (Neuharth) Schaffner. He grew up in Leola, where he attended school and graduated in 1968.

Pat married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Zantow, on January 4, 1969, in Leola. Pat and Pam welcomed two children, a son named Russell and a daughter, Amy.

Pat began his long career in construction and skilled labor after graduation from high school. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a repairman extraordinaire. There was nothing he could not fix, build, or repair. He took pride and satisfaction in a job well done! In his later years, Pat spent hours cultivating and nurturing his large vegetable garden to the benefit of many people in town. He found enjoyment in his scrapping hobby. There were two seasons Pat lived by, gardening in the summer and scrapping in his shop when the cool weather set in.

Pat and Pam thoroughly enjoyed watching their grandkids grow into young adults. They cherished spending time with them whether it was fishing, birthdays, or cheering them on in their activities.

Pat will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years, Pam; son, Russell Schaffner; daughter, Amy (Vince) Yamaura; grandchildren, Casey Yamaura and Danielle Yamaura; brother Jerome (Carol) Schaffner; and sisters, Janis (Michael) Lund and Noreen Lloyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest brother, Mike.
