Ken Dahlgren

Kenneth Dahlgren, 95 of Strandburg, SD, passed away on April 17, 2024, in Watertown, SD.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg. Rev. Hans Sacrison will officiate and burial will be in the Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

Kenneth Harley Dahlgren (and his twin brother, Kirmet) were born on August 15, 1928, on a farm south of Strandburg, SD. They were the twin sons of John and Adina (Pearson) Dahlgren. Ken grew up in the Strandburg area. He was baptized and confirmed at Tabor Lutheran Church. He attended school in Strandburg and graduated from high school.

Ken was united in marriage with Norma Jean Black on August 25, 1949, at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. Ken and Norma made their home on a ranch west of Strandburg. They were blessed with two sons: Kevin and Daniel. They moved into Strandburg in 1997.

Ken raised cattle. He was an avid fur trapper and loved to hunt. He enjoyed all sports and adored his family. He served on the Tabor Lutheran Church Council and on the cemetery committee. He was the Troy Township Clerk for 30 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Norma of Strandburg, SD; his two sons and daughter-in-law: Kevin (Dawn) Dahlgren of Strandburg, SD; and Daniel Dahlgren of Strandburg, SD; one grandson: Billy (Trish) Bublitz of Mapleton, ND; two great-grandchildren: Dovah and Soren Bublitz; sister, Marlys Trippett of Texas; and sister-in-law: Darlene Dahlgren of Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Adina; siblings and spouses: Kirmet, Herb (Gladys), Alice (Emil) Nord, Esther (Foy) Witbeck, Gladys (Bill) Shear, and Lee Trippett.
