The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Groton today, May 23, for the Region 1A golf meet. Scores will be posted when they become available. The team had competed in the NEC meet at Redfeld on May 13 and in their last invitational of the season at Sisseton on May 16. They now turn their attention to South Dakota’s 2024 State A Girls Golf Tournament. The state meet will be held at Bakker Crossing Golf Course in Sioux Falls on June 3-4.. The tournament is a 36-hole event. Each contestant will play 18 holes per day and the individual championship place winners will be determined by their two-day combined scores.

Sisseton Invitational – May 16
Mark Keaton, head coach for Milbank, commented on the difficulty of navigating the course at Valley View Country Club, “Sisseton is a mystery in itself. It’s a tough course with greens that do not break the way you think they should. This was one tournament I think the girls were happy to put in their rearview mirror.”

Milbank took fourth place, behind Madison, who won the meet, and Aberdeen Roncalli, who edged out Groton Area for second. Shaylee Schuchard was the top golfer for Milbank. She landed in 14th place with a 114. Camila Monroy shot a 120 to bring home 17th place. Jaclyn Wiik notched 21st place. She carded a 121. Jacynda Street took 23rd at 138, and Mia VanLith came in 24th with her score of 166.

Claire Crawford of Roncalli was the medalist. She shot 16 over par for an 88. Crawford took sixth place last year at State, when she was a freshman, and she is expected to offer tough competition again this year.

Northeast Conference Meet – Redfield – May 13
Milbank took third place as a team at the NEC meet at Fisher Grove Country Club outside of Redfield on May 13. Aberdeen Roncalli took first and Groton was second. Redfield came in fourth. Senior Shaylee Schuchard was the highest ranking Lady Bulldog. She made the top 10 individually at No. 10 when she carded 108.

Milbank senior Camila Monroy carded 121 for 15th place. Senior Jaclyn Wiik earned 17th place with her score of 121. Senior Jacynda Street took 21st place with her score of 142 and senior Mia Van Lith came in 22nd at 161. The winner of the meet was Claire Crawford of Roncalli.
