Milbank will host its annual Memorial Day Program in remembrance of fallen U.S. military members on Monday, May 27. Events to honor the servicemen and women for their bravery and their sacrifice will be conducted at the Milbank City Cemetery and the St. Lawrence Cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the Milbank Armory. The schedule for the day:

St. Lawrence Cemetery
8 a.m. – Mass
9 a.m. – Address by Father Gary DeRouchey
9 a.m. – Posting of Memorial Wreaths
9 a.m. – Salute to the Dead by the All-Units Firing Squad

Milbank City Cemetery – Events begin at 10 a.m.
Order of Events:
Posting of the Colors by Grant County VFW Post 3486 and Auxiliary, Birch-Miller Post 9 American Legion and Auxiliary, the 740th Transportation Company of the South Dakota National Guard, Disabled American Veterans-Chapter 19, and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1054.
Pledge of Allegiance – Commander Mark Haaven
Star Spangled Banner – Milbank eighth-grade band and MHS band helpers
Introduction – Commander Mark Haaven
Speaker– Major Cody Eastman of the South Dakota National Guard, former Commander of the 740th Transportation company, and Assistant G-6 of JFHQ. Eastman was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
