Jonathan Schneider will present a harp concert at Zion Community Church in Wilmot at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. The concert is free. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Jonathan was born in Spain and raised in Puerto Rico. He started harp lessons at age 10 with Elisa Torres, the principal harpist for the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. It was the orchestra’s program, Symphonic Experience, that inspired his love for music, and Jonathan saw the opportunity to continue his studies and train as a professional musician.
Jonathan spent many years studying under internationally lauded harpists and graduated summa cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in harp performance from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico.
He was the first harpist to receive the Theodore Presser Graduate Music Award, an honor that allowed him to study in Europe during the summer of 2023, and gave him to opportunity to study with harpists from the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Milan Conservatory, and the Royal College of Music. In May 2024, Jonathan received his Master’s of Music in Harp Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
