Darius Christopher Small, a beloved son, brother, and friend, left this world far too soon on July 28th, 2024.

He was born in Watertown, South Dakota on October 4, 2003 to his loving parents Stacy Stickle and Gary Small, Jr.  Darius was also cherished by his Stepfather Eugene Edwards and his siblings Sheyanne Small, Christian Edwards, Nevaeh Edwards and Keisha Small.

He grew up in Summit and graduated from WaubaySummit High School.  He was currently employed at Terex in Watertown.

Darius was a young man full of life and passion. He had an infectious smile that could light up any room he entered. His love for basketball was evident from a young age as he spent countless hours perfecting his game on the court. Whether it was shooting hoops with friends or cheering on his favorite team, Darius found joy in every moment spent playing the sports he loved. In addition to basketball, Darius had a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends while golfing or fishing in the serene beauty of nature. His adventurous spirit led him to seek new experiences outside whenever possible. Darius’s zest for life extended beyond sports and outdoor activities; he also found happiness in socializing with those around him. He cherished moments spent laughing and making memories with loved ones at parties or gatherings.

The loss of such a vibrant soul has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew him. Though our time with Darius may have been cut short, we find solace in knowing that his spirit lives on through the memories we shared together.

Rest peacefully now dear Darius Christopher Small; your presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Tom Engen and Gary Small, Sr.; his step-brother, Julian Oliger; and his uncle, Eric Engen.
