The Big Stone City Branch Library registered 49 kids for two sessions of their summer reading program. Along with their guests, the program accommodated 57 children during the two-month program.
Each week, the kids enjoyed activity sheets, games, songs, and special events such as the live professional ventriloquist show. Branch manager, Janelle Kelly, and library volunteers read them books aloud. On July 17, Big Stone’s Horizons Group served root beer floats to all the kids and the volunteers .

Tallies from independent reading:
Group 1 – One reader logged 15 hours and the others read up to eight hours.
Group 2 – Three readers read 22 hours each. Two readers read 21 hours each. The others in this group logged up to 17 hours.

Each child received BOOK bucks and selected prizes from the library toy store on the last day of the program. Each Top Reader was given a t-shirt emblazoned with ADVENTURE BEGINS AT THE LIBRARY.
