Linda Gieseke, 71, of Greenbush, Minnesota passed away at her home on Monday, July 29th, 2024.
Linda Glee Dahle, the daughter of Roscoe and Helen (Williamson) Dahle, was born on December 21, 1952 at Ortonville, MN. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Revillo, SD, confirmed and married at American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milbank, SD. She attended English Lutheran in Minneapolis and was a member at Trinity Lutheran in Detroit Lakes. She currently was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush, MN. She sang in every church choir from 1962 (grade 4) until 2009. She attended school at Adams #3 in Albee, SD as the only student in her grade (through 3rd grade.) Her family moved to Milbank, SD in 1962 where she graduated with honors from Milbank High School in 1971. She worked in the home office of Milbank Mutual Insurance Company until 1973. She moved to Minneapolis and worked in the Auto Underwriting Dept. of Great American Insurance Co. in downtown Minneapolis.
She married Ernest Gieseke in 1974 at Milbank. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1975. Linda worked as a teaching assistant in Lincoln Elementary School, a bookkeeper for A & B Auto Supply Co and a teller at Detroit State Bank. Daughter Christine was born in 1977. Linda purchased “The Plant Shack,” a seasonal retail plant business, located in the Pavilion Plaza at Detroit Lakes and also sold at craft shows in the area. She sold the business when son Andrew was born in 1980. In 1984 the family moved to Greenbush, MN where she operated Gieseke Floral and Gifts until 2000. She also owned a travel agency, Dream Travel, from 2000-2003 and served as secretary at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush from 2005-2007. She also assisted her husband with Gieseke Funeral Chapel and made trophies for Gieseke Trophies.
Linda was very active in the community. She served as President of the WELCA while in Detroit Lakes. In Greenbush, she was a member of the Town and Country Club for 25 years and was President for 2 terms as well as other duties. She was Committee Chairman of the local Boy Scouts. In 2003 Linda co-chaired the Greenbush History Book Committee and she was Chairman of the Board for the Greenbush Centennial Committee in 2005.
Linda was most proud of being wife, friend and helper to her husband Ernie. Her children were her life for many years and she loved her grandchildren. She loved music of all kinds especially gospel and Christian music and easy-listening. In her younger days she loved to dance. She loved to read historic romantic fiction about Regency England. She also loved flowers, birds and nature.
Linda is survived by her son, Andrew (Jessica) Gieseke of Chaska, MN; Grandsons, Levi Andrew Gieseke & Cole Joseph Gieseke; Brothers, Allen (Patti) Dahle of Watertown, SD, and Collis (Brenda) Dahle of Milbank, SD; Sisters, Rita Dahle of Milbank, SD, Nancy (Jim) Weber of Watertown, SD, Julie (Randy) Kruse of Revillo, SD, and Karen (Lloyd) Tillma of Twin Brooks, SD; Sister-in-law, Betty (George) McGuire of Sierra Vista, AZ; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother, Helen Dahle of Milbank, SD, in 2023, her father, Roscoe Dahle in 2000, her husband, Ernest, in 2020, and her Beloved Daughter, Christine, in 2012.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, August 5, 2024, at 11:00 am. In Bethel Lutheran Church, Greenbush. Interment will be in the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service.
