DeBoer Top Class A Golfer at Hub City Invite

Despite blustery conditions at the annual Hub City Golf Invitational on September 3 at Lee Park in Aberdeen, Bulldog Jonathan DeBoer brought home the highest place finish earned by a Class A golfer. His head coach, Mark Keeton, commented, “At Aberdeen, we faced some tough, windy conditions. When the wind is blowing that hard it can be tough finding fairways.

Jonathan DeBoer played a very solid round taking nothing worse than a bogey.  He was the top A golfer and finished in eighth place.”

Coach Keeton also commended senior Gregory Grabow on his improvement.  “Gregory was able to keep his score in double digits for the first time this season in some of our toughest conditions. I like where he is heading.” 

Sawyer Sonnenschein from Pierre was the medalist with a final score of three under par at 68. The other top seven players also hailed from Pierre or Watertown and Aberdeen Central. Their scores ranged from 72 to 77. DeBoer also carded a 77 to earn eighth for Milbank.

Bulldogs Owen Fischer and Charlie Peery each tallied 92 strokes. Fischer ended in 37th place and Peery in 38th.

Ryan Keeton scored 95 for 41st place. Grabow carded 98 for 48th place. Thomas Bass, new to the team this year, finished with 124 to take 63rd place.

In the team rankings, Watertown won the tournament and Milbank claimed seventh place. Complete results:

JV and MS vs. Sisseton Scores – September 5
In JV and Milbank Middle School golf action against the Sisseton Redmen on the road on September 5. Milbank’s Preston Laskowske returned home with seventh place for the JV squad. Thomas Bass was ninth with 55. Emmett Schuelke secured fourth place for the middle school team with a score of 62.
