Lady Bulldogs Slip to Roncalli

The Lady Bulldogs fell 2-7 to the Lady Cavaliers of Roncalli on September 3 at Cantine Courts in Milbank. 

Sophomore Jenna Korstjens, playing at No. 1, defeated Katherine Kretchman 3-6, 6-4, and (10-5) to secure a victory for Milbank in singles action. At No. 5, Payton Lamp, an eighth grader, also nailed down a win for MHS against Josie Mitchell with scores of 6-1 and 6-0.  At No. 2, junior Ashlynn Lamp was narrowly defeated by River Haskell  6-4, 4-6, and (9-11). No 3, sophomore Caitlyn Frerichs, was defeated 0-6 and 0-6 by Raley Haskell. Senior Jericho Jones at No. 4, lost 3-6 and 2-6 to Keira Rivett. Eighth-grader Charlotte Swanson at No. 6, was defeated by Gianna Cihak 0-6 and 4-6.

In exhibition play, Bri Hicks took a 1-10 loss from Molleigh Hofer. Sophomore Alexis Meyer got a win for Milbank at 10-9 and (7-3) in the tie breaker. Kalli Moser was defeated 2-10 by Lydia Nord.

In doubles, Korstjens and A. Lamp lost to Kretchman and Ra. Haskell with scores of 2-6 and 2-6. Jones and P. Lamp were defeated 1-6 and 1-6 by Ri. Haskell and Rivett.  Frerichs and Swanson put up a fight to Mitzel and Cihak, but eventually went down in the tiebreaker. Their scores were 4-6, 7-5, and (6-10). In exhibition play, Hicks and Becca Lavallee lost to Hofer and Alvear 8-10. 

What’s next?  The Lady Bulldogs went on the road to Watertown today, Tuesday, September 10, to face the Lady Arrows.
