Jonathan DeBoer claimed second place and Owen Fischer took 10th place at the Groton Invitational on Thursday, September 12. The Bulldogs as a team came in fourth.

DeBoer scored a 76 – just four over par – to finish in the runner-up position. Fisher carded an 86. Charlie Peery also scored 86 to follow close behind at 12th place.

Bulldog Ryan Keeton shot a 91 to bring home 21st place. Gregory Grabow took 30th place at 104. Tate Steffensen, a senior from Sioux Valley, won the tournament with a 74.

“I was very pleased with how the boys battled in some very windy conditions,” stated Milbank’s head coach, Mark Keeton.  “As a team we finished fourth, but there were only 11 strokes separating first and fourth.”

“We need to do a better job as a team avoiding the big numbers that hurt the overall score, but I feel we are close,” Coach Keeton went on to say.  “It will be nice having the home-course advantage here in a couple weeks as the region tournament is closing fast.”

Results for the Seventh Through Ninth- Grade Tournament in Sisseton: Pierce Mathiason shot a  55 and Emmett Schuelke carded  63.

What’s next? Varsity Bulldogs traveled to Redfield today, Tuesday September 17. The JV and C players visit Redfield on Friday, September 20.
