Lady Bulldogs Volleyball Teams Trade Wins With Florence-Henry

The Lady Bulldogs varsity volleyball team, coached by Nancy Hoeke, fought the Lady Falcons of Florence-Henry down to the wire in their match on Thursday, September 19, in Milbank. The Lady Bulldogs eventually fell 3-2. Their set scores 25-23, 24-26, 24-26, 25-13, and 13-15.
Keys to the Game:
- Serving: Addisyn Krause racked up seven aces on 28-of-31 serving. Adison Pauli went 9-of-10 with two aces.
- On the attack: Claire Snaza led Milbank’s offense with 19 kills on 36-of-47 hitting. Isabella Anderson was next with six kills on 15-of-27 hitting.
- Setting up the offense: Scoular had a massive 25 assists on 77-of-79 setting. Krause recorded 45-of-45 and added six assists.
- For the defense: Ella Sandvig saved the day with 26 digs to keep Milbank rallying. Wenzl was close behind with 17 digs. Krause added 16.
- At the net: Snaza was credited with five solo blocks and two block assists. Anderson and Kenzie Kooima each recorded two block assists.
JV Match – The Lady Bulldogs JV team beat Florence-Henry 2-0. Set scores were 25-20 and 25-23.
C Team Match – Milbank’s C Team girls defeated the Lady Falcons in two sets. Final scores were 25-11 and 25-22.
Eighth-Grade Match – The eighth- grade Lady Bulldogs, coached by Becky Johnson, lost 1-2 to Florence-Henry. Set scores were 25-23, 14-25, and 10-25. Ava Homrighausen went 7-of -7 serving with three aces. Willow Bender was 6-of-6 serving. She also recorded one kill. Paisley Ericsson went 5-of -5 serving with two aces. Lauren Lester was 9-of-10 at the service line with two aces. She added one assist. Kaci Zinter went 5–of-7 serving with two aces, She also made two kills. Leah Baugh was 1-of-3 serving with one kill. Kenzie Anderson went 7-of-10 serving with two aces. She also recorded three assists. (ChiAnne Gilmore did not serve.)
7th Grade Match – The seventh- grade team coached by Jena Schulte defeated Florence-Henry in three straight sets. Scores included 25-10, 25-22, and 25-11. Leading the team was Susie Schuneman with 21-of-23 serves and a whopping 15 aces. Brielle Bumgardner went 6-of-6 with two aces; Hailee Lester, 2-of-2 serving; Sophia Bass 4-of- 5 serving, with two aces; Jenna Peterson, 5-of-6 serving, with one ace and one kill. Haydyn Mitthun went 6- of-7 serving with four aces. She also added one kill. Sydnee Weyh was 6-of-8 serving with three aces.; Keira Untalan 1-of-3 serving; Kendra Grong went 9-of-12 serving with three aces. Grong also posted two assists.
