JV Girls Cross Country Team Takes Fourth Place at SFC

The Mibank JV cross country teams, along with the MHS varsity teams, traveled to the Sioux Falls Christian Invitational on September 17.The meet was held at Yankton Trails Park. The JV Lady Bulldogs earned fourth place in their 4,000-meter race. The boys did not qualify as a complete team because they entered just three athletes.
Seventh-grader Susie Schuneman led the girls by capturing 18th place with her time of 18:36.16. Seventh-grader Tabitha McFaden took 24th place at 19:16.53. Paola Culhuac Segundo, also in seventh grade, finished 26th at 19:43.35. Seventh-grader Timbree Spors came in 31st at 19:59.16. Ninth-grader Mackenzie Mueller finished at 20:13.77 for 37th place. Seventh-grader Haylen Schneck claimed 40th place with her time of 20:31.01. Junior Yanderyn Olivares was 67th at 23:24.76. Cameryn Sovell, also a junior, took 70th place at 23:28.66. Ninth-grader Hannah Davelaar of SFC won the race at 16:40.13.

In the boys 4,000-meter run, ninth-grader Franco Flores brought home 27th place for the Bulldogs with his time of 16:34.35. Armando Chan, also a ninth-grader, took 37th place at 17:25.64. Tate Pew, a freshman, came in 45th at 17:46.78. Max McDonald, a ninth-grader at SFC, won the race at 14:36.83.

Milbank Middle School Race Results:
In the middle school boys 3,000-meter run, Jefferson Ordonex (7th) took 26th place, Matthew Unzen (7th) took 71st place, Justus Gortmaker (7th) took 82nd place, Gunnar Anderson (7th) finished 99th, and Levi Street (8th) took 103rd.
In the middle school girls 3,000-meter race, Sophis Bass (7th) took 18th place. Madelyn Van Lith (7th) came in 25th, and Nuria Rodriguez Duron (7th) was 30th
What’s next? Milbank travels to the Grand Forks Border Battle on Saturday, September 28. Over 94 schools from around the region will compete. Races for the sixth through eighth grade teams are scheduled in the morning. The National Anthem will be played at 12:45. Varsity boys start at 1 p.m. Varsity girls follow at approximately 2 p.m. JV races round out the day, starting at approximately 3 p.m.
