Lady Bulldogs Eighth-Graders Keep Up With Two Tough Teams

The Lady Bulldogs eighth-grade volleyball team went on the road to play Webster on Tuesday, October 1. Milbank took the loss 1-2, but Coach Becky Johnson said. “The girls played really well.” Set scores were close at 25-17, 17-25, and 13-15

For the Lady Dawgs, Kenzie Anderson went 10-of-12 serving with six aces and one assist. Willow Bender hit 6-of-8 serving with five aces. Leah Baugh went 5-of-5 at the line with two aces. She added one assist. Lauren Lester was 12-of-16 serving with five   aces.  Ava Homrighausen hit 2-of 2 serving with one ace. Paisley Ericsson recorded 3-of-4 serving. Kaci Zinter made 1-5 of her serves. She also contributed two kills. .ChiAnne Gilmore did not serve.

Milbank vs. Sioux Valley 
The eighth-grade  team also  played two matches against Sioux Valley on Tuesday, September 24, in Volga. Milbank took the loss 0-2. 

“They were fun matches to watch,” Coach Johnson commented. “The girls were moving on the court and talking. We had a lot of good volleys going.”

In the first match, the Lady Bulldogs were defeated in two sets at 12-25 and 19-25. Bailee Hendricks led the way for MIlbank at 12-of-12 serving with four aces.  Violet Johnson was 8-of-9 serving and had five assists and two kills. Zora Henrich hit 1-2 serves and added two assists and two kills. Avigail Howard was 0-of-2 from the line, however, she had one assist and one kill. Bella Hicks went 1-of-1 serving. Paisley Ericsson was 2-of 4 serving. She also made two kills. Leah Baugh went 1-of-2 serving and had one kill. Sophia Schuchard did not serve.

Coach Johnson said, “Match two was versus their B team, which ended up being their A team in sets two and three.” Milbank went down 1-2. Set scores were 25-18, 20-25, and 12-15.  Violet Johnson was on her game at 9-of-9 serves. She also added five assists  and two kills. Bailee Hendricks hit 19-of-20 serves with two aces. She also added four kills. Avigail Howard was 7-of-8 serving with one ace. She put up seven kills. Paisley Ericsson went 3-of-5 serving, with one ace.  Kenzie Anderson hit 1-of-2 serving. She also had one ace.  Sophia Schuchard went 0-of-1 serving, but she contributed two kills. Lauren Lester hit 4-of-4 serves and added three assists. Bella Hicks went 1-of-2 serving. Leah Baugh did not serve.
