Paul O’Farrell, 58, of Marvin, SD, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at his home near Marvin.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank.

Paul Raymond O’Farrell was born on August 24, 1966, in Milbank, SD, to Raymond and Victoria “Vicky” (Anderson) O’Farrell. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmot. He attended school in Wilmot, graduating in 1985. Following his graduation, he spent a couple of years working on Alvin and Amanda O’Farrell’s farm.

In April 1986, Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. His time in the service became one of his proudest achievements. Paul was stationed primarily in Hawaii. During this period, in 1989, Paul was blessed with his daughter, Jessica. While in Hawaii, Paul met Lauren Miles. He was honorably discharged in 1990 and the couple moved back to Marvin, SD. Upon their return to South Dakota, Paul bought the Marvin Bar. He owned and operated the bar while also assisting on Alvin and Amanda’s farm. Paul and Lauren were married on May 22, 1992, in Marvin, and together they were blessed with two sons: Conner and Kyle. Though the couple eventually divorced, Paul’s love for his sons remained unwavering and he frequently traveled to Australia to visit them. Later, Paul shared his life with Diantha Herbert, and together they were blessed with twins: Riley and Amanda O’Farrell

In the early 2000s, Paul started Skyline Trucking, a company he ran with dedication until 2020. His work ethic was unmatched, and he poured his heart into every project he took on. In 2017, he built his house on the Skyline Ranch, a place that became his refuge and greatest source of peace. The Skyline Ranch wasn’t just a home; it was where Paul felt truly at ease, surrounded by the landscape that he loved.

Paul was a kind-hearted man who was always ready to lend a helping hand. He had a passion for reading, especially books about war. He also enjoyed discussing cattle with local farmers. Paul’s love for conversation and storytelling found a perfect outlet at the bar, where he built lasting connections with the locals over countless shared stories. He was a man who valued hard work, good conversation, and the simple joys of life.

Paul is survived by his children: Jessica (Cody) McPhee of Bemidji, MN; Conner Miles-O’Farrell of Wilmot, SD; Kyle (Tosha Prisinger) Miles-O’Farrell of Milbank, SD; Riley O’Farrell of Ashville, OH; and Amanda O’Farrell of San Antonio, TX; his father, Raymond O’Farrell of Marvin, SD; four siblings: Marcie (Edward) Reyelts of Paola, KS; Kelly (Donna) O’Farrell of Marvin, SD; Rita O’Farrell of Palm Springs, CA; and Lance O’Farrell of Milbank, SD; two grandchildren; former wife, Lauren Miles of HI; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria “Vicky” O’Farrell; aunts; and uncles.
