Teresa Lynn Boeckermann, age 67, of Milbank, SD; Hibbing, MN; and most recently Wright City, MO; passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her suffering ended early in the morning with her loving family by her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wentzville, MO, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held in Milbank, SD, at the Speedway Event Center on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Teresa was born on September 21, 1957, in Milbank, SD, to Philip and Georgetta (Van Hout) Giessinger. She grew up in Milbank and graduated from Milbank High School in 1975. Upon graduation, Teresa started working at Dakota State Bank. Teresa met Dick Boeckermann in 1981. Their relationship grew and they were married on December 12, 1981. Though their marriage of nearly 43 years ended on Wednesday morning, their love will continue forever.

Dick and Teresa had three boys: Benjamin Richard, Chad Alan, and Ryan Philip. Heartbreakingly, Benjamin went to heaven following a premature birth. Teresa found her passion in leaving the workforce and focusing her time and talent on the task of raising Chad and Ryan. As their constant advocate, cheerleader, and confidant, she loved and supported them to do their best.

Teresa loved her entire extended family including her in-laws with all her heart, but held an incredibly special place in her big heart for every child in her life. An incredibly nurturing Mother, Auntie, Friend, Neighbor, and Grandmother, Teresa tirelessly ensured every child she met felt special.

Whether it was a birthday party, holiday, or just a heated dice game or Dominos, Teresa cherished any opportunity to celebrate good times with family. Christmas with Teresa was a special blessing. From hosting Christmas Eve celebrations in Milbank to traveling to Hancock, MN, on Christmas Day, her effort and care were felt by everyone. This same effort and care only grew in her later years when she had three granddaughters to spoil with every gift imaginable. While in the hospital, Teresa noted that Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was “when I usually start my Christmas shopping for the year”. This may seem early but isn’t surprising if you know the care she put into finding the perfect item for everyone in her life (at a good price) and meticulously wrapping each gift.

Teresa is lovingly remembered by her husband, Richard Boeckermann; her children: Chad (Anna) Boeckermann and Ryan (Codi) Boeckermann; her granddaughters: Grace (8), Hazel (6), and Freya (3); her siblings: Linda (Jerry) Dornbusch, Bob Giessinger, Lori Chamley, Joyce Johnson, Dawn Shultz, Dennis Giessinger, and Amy (Bert) Loehrer; and her family through marriage: Delores (Dennis) Krantz, Arlene (Al) Nissen, Chuck Krantz, Dave (Ellie) Boeckermann, Judy (Phil) Erickson, Jim Boeckermann, Ann (Dave) Tozier, and Mary (Rich) Ehrich; and the friends who grew to be family found along the way.

Teresa was preceded in death by infant son, Benjamin Boeckermann; parents: Philip and Georgetta Giessinger; parents-in-law: Lawrence and Rita Boeckermann; sister, Julie Jegela; sister-in-law, Patricia Krantz; and brothers-in-law: Ronald Boeckermann, Craig Johnson, Dennis Olson, and Richard Shultz.

Donations in memory of Teresa may be made to Toys for Tots to continue spreading happiness and joy to children in her absence.
