Duane Pollock, 71, of Milbank, SD, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

A private family funeral service and graveside service will be held. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Duane Lyle Pollock was born on July 15, 1953, in Milbank, SD. He was the son of Donald and Norma (Steltz) Pollock. Duane grew up in Milbank and graduated from Milbank High School. He attended Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, SD. Duane was united in marriage with Sandra Coan on September 8, 1973, in Milbank.

Duane was a hard-working man, starting his career by working sound control for several local bands and later starting REO Sights Sounds DJ. He worked at Grothe Implements, Gesswein Motors, and Dakota Granite Company. He worked at FOK Trustworthy from 1983-1991. He established his business, Mill-Valley Industries, in 1991 and worked there until his retirement in 2016.

Duane was a proud and faithful member of the Milbank Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, serving from 1985 until 1996. He was a member of the Grant County Emergency Management Team. He was an emergency medical technician for Milbank Ambulance. He enjoyed attending threshing shows, tractor pulls, and ATV pulls. He was a committee member of the Big Stone Walleye Classic Tournament.

Duane was a man of many skills. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or make new. He was fortunate enough to pass that down to his son, Chad. Duane was also a man who loved helping people. He passed that trait down to his daughter, Nicolle. Duane loved his family, especially his grandchildren! He was known as “Grandpa Carpool” and always gave a hug and “I love you” before he left. He had obstacles and struggles in life but kept a smile on his face just to see someone else smile. He used to say, “I fall down…get back up…no problem!”

Duane is so loved by his family and community.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sandra Pollock of Milbank; daughter, Nicolle (Chris) Berkner of Twin Brooks, SD; and Chad (Tory) Pollock of Milbank, SD; six grandchildren: Jordan Pollock, Brennen Schafer, Devin Pollock, Shelbi Pollock, Aubree Pollock, and Letty Pollock; and his dog, Boomer. He was preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Norma Pollock; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Noel and Catherin Coan; and his sister, Diane Woods.
