The Lady Bulldogs defeated Sisseton on Tuesday, November 5, to advance in the Region 1A girls volleyball tournament. Milbank now faces the second-seeded Lady Cavaliers of Aberdeen Roncalli on Thursday, November 7. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. at Groton Area High School. The winner earns a berth in the 2024 SoDak 16.

Milbank might not have appreciated being seeded at No. 6 going into postseason play, but it forced them to get fired up for their first hurdle on Tuesday. It might also have led the Lady Redmen of Sisseton to underestimate both the Lady Dawgs’ heart and skill. The two teams had split matches earlier in the season, with the most recent  “W” claimed by Sisseton. That match ended with a  final score of 2-0 on October 19 at the Milbank Armory. This time, the rivals met at Roncalli High School, and the Lady Redmen didn’t see Milbank’s efficiency and strong defense coming. The Lady Bulldogs etched a decisive 3-1 victory. Set scores were 25-14, 25-18, 15-25, and 25-11.

Game Highlights: Ella Sandvig put up three aces; Siera Wenzl had two. Claire Snaza made 5 kills, Wenzl made11, and Isabella Anderson and Avery Schuneman each recorded 10 kills. Rylee Scoular produced 23 assists; Addisyn Krause added 18. Krause posted 19 digs. Sandvig added 17 digs, and Wenzl put up 15. Snaza also made two blocks for Milbank.
