Marcella Johnson

Marcella Johnson, age 99, of Milbank, SD, passed away on December 2, 2024, at St. William’s Care Center in Milbank. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday. Pastor Melanie Reiners will officiate. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery. 

Marcella Manning was born on April 9, 1925, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Oscar and Bergetta (Jacobson) Manning. She attended Madison #2 School and Milbank High School. Marcella married Herbert Johnson on June 27, 1948, in Milbank.

Marcella was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother. She was active in the local Jolly Madison Extension Club for many years where she was not only a member, but an officer, including President. She and Herb were faithful members of Parkview United Methodist Church in Milbank. Marcella was also an active member of United Methodist Women. 

Left to cherish Marcella’s memory are her children: Linda Wendland of New London, MN; Audrey Osswald of Williamsburg, VA; LaVonne Watts of Williamsburg, VA; and Ken (Cheryl) Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Lucille Hublou of Milbank, SD; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Stemsrud of Milbank, SD. 

Marcella is preceded in death by her parents: Oscar and Bergetta; husband, Herb; sisters: Lois Pay and Betty Nelson; her brother, George Manning; and brother-in-law, Gordon Johnson.
