The Bulldogs basketball team hosted Clark-Willow Lake on January 2 in a game that was rescheduled from December 19 due to weather. Milbank, playing in only their second game of the season, struggled to get traction against the undefeated Cyclones, who came into the game at 4-0. The Bulldogs fell behind by six points in the first quarter and by 10 by the half. Although they rallied in the fourth quarter, the deficit was too deep for the time that remained, and they fell 52-35.

Sam Rick hit double figures for the Dawgs with 11 points. He also added four rebounds. Jeter Scoular put up nine points – all from three-point range– and a rebound. Emmett Hanson led the Bulldogs’ defense with seven rebounds. He contributed three points and an assist. Graham Lightfield and Ryan Keeton also each scored three points. Keeton dropped in a bullet for a triple.

Esteban Abrego supplied two points, four rebounds, and an assist. Bryan Meyer scored two points and three rebounds. Jack Howard made two points, two rebounds, and an assist.. Lincoln Holscher added a rebound. Rick, Meyer, Hanson, and Scoular each pulled off a steal. Keeton snagged two. As a team, the Cyclones managed just one steal.

The Bulldogs were forced to reckon with two Clark-Willow Lake players who hit double figures. Emerson Larson put up 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Sully Felberg notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. 

Milbank hit 14 of 45 shots to finish at 31 percent. They fizzled from beyond the arc to land just four of 21 and downed three of nine from the free throw line for 33 percent.

The Cyclones made seven of their nine free throw attempts. Overall, they made nearly 37 percent of their shots, including just seven of 24 three-pointers.

With the loss to Clark-Willow Lake, Milbank fell to 0-2 for the season, but the Bulldogs get another chance for victory on Tuesday, January 7, on the road against Britton-Hecla .
