The Lady Bulldogs basketball team was a scoring machine in their game with the Lady Braves of Britton-Hecla  on Tuesday, January 7. Milbank’s defense also applied intense pressure and Britton-Hecla struggled to control the ball. They committed a total of 28 turnovers. Milbank easily defeated the Lady Braves 61-23 in Britton.

Isabella Anderson and Tyra Berry teamed up to score 38 points. Anderson put up 24 and Berry scored 14. Berry also added three rebounds. Claire Snaza scored six points and led the team in rebounds along with Josie Riveland. They each secured four. Riveland and Avery Schuneman chipped in five points apiece. Siera Wenzl, Rylee Scoular, and Belle Pauli each added one bucket. Lydia Gall made a free throw. .Anna Neugebauer grabbed three rebounds. Scoular and Snaza each recorded a block.

The Lady Bulldogs wrangled the ball away from Britton Hecla 19 times during the game. Anderson made five steals, Riveland had four. Pauli  and Neugebauer each had three. Berry had two, and Schuneman and Bree Townsend got one apiece.

Milbank made 49 percent of their shots from the floor. They hit five of 19 from beyond the arc for a total of 42 percent. They also downed five of their 10 free throws.

Britton-Hecla did their best shooting from the charity stripe. They hit six of 13 for 46 percent. Overall, they shot just 25 percent, including 27 percent from long range. Heather Storbakken led the Lady Braves scoring with 11 points. Karlie Zuehlke and Chellon Pruitt each posted four rebounds.

What’s next? The girls are on the road Tuesday, January 14, to Tiospa Zina Tribal School.
