Bulldogs Take Loss and Move on to 2025 Dak XII/NEC Conference Clash

The Bulldogs hosted a basketball doubleheader with Deuel at the Milbank Armory on Thursday, January 30. The varsity Cardinals came to town with a 9-3 record and the Bulldogs sat at 4-7. Deuel left with the “W” after a victory at  51-38.  

Both teams were ice cold from downtown, but Milbank’s Emmett Hanson put up 16 points the hard way, and Sam Rick was right behind him with 14. Groton’s Gabe Sather was the top scorer in the game. He posted 24 points.  Hanson earned a double-double by adding 13 boards.  Sather also recorded a double-double for Groton with his 11 rebounds. Esteban Abrego scored four points for Milbank. Lincoln Holscher and Ryan Keeton each made a basket.

Jack Howard attacked the boards to come away with eight. He also had an assist and a steal. Rick had five rebounds.  Graham Lightfield grabbed four and had three assists. Holscher got two boards. Keeton and Layten Osowski each got one. Keeton also snagged a steal.

Milbank connected on 16 of 51 attempts from the floor for 31.4 percent. They hit four of eight from the line for 50 percent. Groton went 21 of 52 for 40.4 percent shooting overall. They made seven of 12 from the stripe for 58 percent.  Each team scored on  two 3-pointers from a collective total of 30 attempts.

What’s next?  The Bulldogs head to the  2025 Dak XII/NEC Conference Clash in Madison on Saturday, February 1. Milbank faces Elk Point-Jefferson in the auxiliary gym. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
