The Lady Bulldogs went on the road to Aberdeen and picked up a win from Roncalli last night, Thursday, February 6. The 48-38 victory should bolster Milbank’s confidence going into the annual DAK XII/NEC Girls Clash on Saturday.

Three Lady Bulldogs led the way. Isabella Anderson scored 18 points and made an assist. She also pulled down four rebounds and pocketed a steal. Tyra Berry added 11 points, two assists, six boards, a block, and three steals. Claire Snaza helped to finish off the Lady Cavaliers with nine points, two assists, eight rebounds, and a block.

Belle Pauli led Milbank with nine rebounds. She also contributed offensive support with six points and an assist. Siera Wenzl and Josie Riveland each made a bucket.and added three rebounds. Rylee Scoular had two assists and two rebounds. Avery Schuneman supplied an assist and one rebound.

The Lady Cavaliers ran into foul trouble in the second half. Starter Maddie Huber fouled out, and Roncalli’s leading scorers, Ava Hanson and Rylee Voeller, were also on the brink with four fouls apiece. Milbank capitalized on their advantage by scoring 15 points in the fourth and holding Roncalli to seven. 

Hanson finished with 14 points and four rebounds before leaving the game. Voeller made 12 points and a rebound. Huber put up three points and got three rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs shot consistently throughout the game and finished at 36 percent overall from the floor. They hit 17 percent from long range and nine of 16 from the line for nearly 63 percent. With the win, Milbank improved their season record to 9-6. 

The Lady Cavaliers hit 27 percent of their shots from the floor. They downed 19 percent of their 3-pointers and six of nine free throws for 67 percent. With the loss, Roncalli slipped to 11-3 for the season.

What’s next? Milbank travels to Madison to play in the annual DAK XII/NEC Girls Clash on Saturday, February 8. Milbank faces Canton at 5 p.m. in the auxiliary gym.  It’s going to be a full day of exciting girls basketball action with matchups  based on seed points to date (2-1). Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.
