Milbank Defeats Webster – Hosts Regions Tonight

Four players in double figures, along with 13 assists and solid performances down the line, added up to 64 points for the Lady Bulldogs in their victory over Webster on Thursday, February 20. Milbank’s defense also rattled Webster’s cage enough to cause the Lady Bearcats to commit 22 turnovers on their own court. The final score was 64-34. 

Milbank’s Tyra Berry made a game-high 15 points, three assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Isabella Anderson put up 14 points and two rebounds. She also swiped the ball from Webster five times. Belle Pauli scored 13 points, two assists, four rebounds, and a steal. Claire Snaza made 10 points, an assist, a team-high seven rebounds, and two steals. Avery Schuneman contributed six points and an assist. Josie Riveland made three points, two assists, and a steal. Siera Wenzl had one basket, three assists, and three rebounds. Anna Neugebauer made a free throw. Rylee Scoular added an assist and a steal.

The Lady Bulldogs hit 22 of their 53 shots from the floor for 41.5 percent. They made eight of 28 from beyond the arc for nearly 29 percent. Milbank sank 12 of their 17 free throws for 71 percent.

Erin Sannes, a 6’ 0” senior, was Webster’s leading scorer with 12 points. She also led in rebounds with 10. Harley Johnson, a senior guard,  followed with nine points, two assists, and four rebounds. The Lady Bearcats made 11 of their 30 shot attempts from the floor to finish at 37 percent.  They downed only one of eight of their 3-pointers, but hit 11 of 14 from the line for 79 percent.

What’s next? The Lady Bulldogs (12-8)  meet up with the Lady Bearcats (10-10) again on Tuesday, February 25. This time, Milbank hosts as Region 1A play of Class A starts at the Milbank Armory. Game time is 7 p.m.
