Milbank varsity and JV gymnasts were recognized for their accomplishments during the  2024-25 season during an awards banquet held Thursday, March 6.

Macyn was awarded Most Dedicated as voted on by her teammates. “Macyn is a hard worker in and out of season. Her dedication shows.” commented Kelly Wollschlager, head coach for Milbank.

Timbree Spors was awarded Hardest Worker by her team. “Timbree has added many new skills as a seventh grader and was also a part of the varsity region and state team,” Wollschlager said. “Stepping up and being on the varsity squad as a seventh grader is no easy task, and Timbree showed bravery and hard work to earn her place.”

Jada Leigh Wellnitz was named Most Improved. “Jada Leigh improved her All-Around score by almost five points from last season. This was done by cleaning up her performances and adding more difficult skills to her routines.” Wollschlager noted.

The coaches named Nuria Rodriguez  Rookie of the Year. “As a seventh grader, Nuria stepped up and was one of our Floor athletes that helped us get to State,” Wollschlager explained. “During the last four meets of the season, each of her floor scores counted towards the team’s score. Her floor score started out as a 7.5 and ended with an 8.7 at the state meet.”

The Coaches Awards went to Gemma Street and Hannah. They each also received a Senior Award.  “Gemma and Hannah have completed their high school gymnastics careers with great accomplishments. They were both recognized for their determination, dedication, and hard work throughout their years at MHS,” said Wollschlager. “They both had difficult injuries throughout their career, but never gave up and always showed up for their teammates. They have been amazing leaders for the younger ones on this team and will be greatly missed in the gym, but we are excited to see where they go in the future.”
