Milbank’s Special Olympics basketball and cheerleading teams competed in the 2025 South Dakota State Tournament on March 29-30 in Mitchell.

The Schoolers basketball team from Milbank took second place in their division. The competition included six teams in a round-robin bracket. Abbey Trapp, head coach for Milbank, commented, “They worked together as a team and played amazing. They even won in OT by four points in their last game.”
The Milbank cheerleaders collected first place in their division. They also participated in a cheer camp put on by the Dakota Wesleyan University cheerleaders.
Milbank’s adult basketball team brought home third place. “They also did well playing as a team and fought hard in every game,” Trapp said. They were in a four-team bracket.
Saturday evening, the entire group enjoyed a banquet and an I Hate Winter-themed dance. “Everyone had a great time!” Trapp stated. She also thanked everyone who came to support the teams.
