Like your stories with a twist at the end? Just for a minute, imagine you live in a small town where everybody knows everybody... MHS Spring Play This Weekend

Like your stories with a twist at the end? Just for a minute, imagine you live in a small town where everybody knows everybody else. Then, if you can, imagine this small town occasionally experiences waves of gossip.  How unusual. Of course, most of that gossip is irritating and inaccurate, but what if some of it is true? And what if it can help solve a murder?

In the play, The Murder of Richard Ackroyd, adapted from the classic novel by Agatha Christie, the power of gossip is revealed long before the murderer.  Dark secrets, greed, blackmail and, shall we say, less than candid characters all collide with the law, ethics, and, of course, the meticulous and mustachioed Hercule Poirot to make one of the most talked about detective stories ever written. If you haven’t seen it, we won’t spoil the ending.

“The audience will definitely not know who the guilty party is until the end of the show,” said director Holly McKernan. “Keep in mind this is a longer production, lasting over two hours, so smaller kids will probably get bored. But older kids, teens, and adults will have a great time trying to figure out whodunit!”

Catch one of two performances when the MHS Theater Department stages The Murder of Richard Ackroyd this Friday and Saturday, April 11-12. Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are just $5 for adults and $3 for students. Activity passes will be accepted.
